If you decide to self-publish a book, keep in mind that having a lot of typos will draw attention to the fact that your book is self-published rather than traditionally published.     Judging by the traditionally published books I’ve read in recent years, typos aren’t the exclusive domain of the self-published author! Far from it – the number of errors in books is absolutely disgusting.
